CartFlows Frequently Bought Together
CartFlows lets you show a Frequently Bought Together section on any product page, where shoppers can add a product and its companion products to the cart in one step. You choose which products appear, where the section sits on the page, and how the extras are added to the cart.
This guide covers how the section works, how to set it up on a product, and what your shoppers see.
How Frequently Bought Together Works
You turn the section on for one product at a time and pick the companion products you want offered alongside it. The section then appears on that product’s page with the main product listed first.
- The main product is always the first row, marked (this item), and shoppers cannot untick it.
- Companion products sit below it, each with its own checkbox.
- The total updates as boxes are ticked, and a single button adds everything to the cart at once.
Shoppers pick up two or three related products in one action instead of visiting each product page separately.
How to Set Up Frequently Bought Together
Step 1. From the WordPress admin, go to Products and open the product you want the section to appear on.
Step 2. Scroll down to the Product data box and click the Frequently Bought Together tab.

Step 3. Turn on Enable Widget at the top right of the panel. The product list and the settings below it appear once the toggle is on.
Step 4. On the Products tab, search for each companion product you want to offer. Every product you pick is added as a row showing its image, name, price and stock status.
Step 5. Drag the handle at the left of a row to reorder it. The first row is the first companion shoppers see.
Step 6. Set the options below the product list:
- Add products separately — When this is on, each product goes into the cart as its own item. When it is off, the extras stay tied to the main product, so removing the main product from the cart removes them too.
- Product selecting method — Multiple lets shoppers tick as many companions as they want. Single limits them to one companion at a time.
- Custom quantity — Adds a quantity box to each row. You set the starting quantity, and shoppers can change it before adding to the cart.
- Widget placement — Choose where the section appears on the product page: After Add-to-Cart button, Below title, Below price, or Below summary.

Step 7. Click Update to save the product.
The section is now live on that product’s page.
The Section in Action
On the product page, shoppers see a Frequently bought together heading with the main product at the top, ticked and labelled (this item). Companion products follow, and the total next to the button reflects everything currently ticked.

A few details worth knowing:
- Only three companions show at first. If you added more, a Show more link reveals the rest, and Show fewer collapses them again.
- The total and the button label both count the main product. Ticking two companions gives you Total for 3 items and a button reading Add 3 items to cart, which becomes Add all 4 items to cart once everything is ticked.
- A companion product with variations shows a Choose an option dropdown and a From price. Shoppers pick a variation before that product can be added.
- A companion that is out of stock appears greyed out with an Out of stock badge and cannot be selected.
- After adding, a confirmation message with a View cart link appears and the cart total updates without reloading the page.
Auto Suggest with CartFlows Pro
The Auto Suggest tab picks companion products for you based on what customers actually buy together in your store. It needs CartFlows Pro active with its licence activated, and your CartFlows account connected. Until all three are in place the tab shows a prompt instead, either to upgrade to CartFlows Pro or to connect your account.
Step 1. Open the Frequently Bought Together tab on a product and click Auto Suggest.
Step 2. Click Generate suggestions. Analysing your catalogue takes a few seconds.
Step 3. The suggestions appear in the tab itself, one product per row. Each row carries a badge saying why it was picked: a match percentage when the product is genuinely bought alongside this one, or Popular in your store when there is not enough buying history yet.

Step 4. Click Accept to add a suggestion to your product list, or Reject to drop it from the batch. Regenerate all fetches a fresh set.
Step 5. When every suggestion has been reviewed, the tab returns to the Generate suggestions view. Click Update to save the product.
Accepted products land in the Products tab, where you can reorder them, set quantities and remove them like any product you picked yourself. If a product does not have enough purchase history yet, Auto Suggest tells you so and offers similar and popular products instead. Suggestions are kept for up to 24 hours before a fresh set is generated.
