How to Use Auto Suggest with Frequently Bought Together

Auto Suggest picks the companion products for you, based on what customers actually buy alongside a product in your store. Instead of searching for each one by hand, you generate a list and keep the ones you want.

This guide covers what you need before you start, how to generate and review suggestions, and how to read what each one tells you.

What You Need First

Auto Suggest is part of CartFlows Pro, and three things have to be in place before the tab will run:

  • CartFlows Pro installed and active
  • Your CartFlows licence activated
  • Your CartFlows account connected

Until all three are done, the Auto Suggest tab shows a prompt instead, asking you either to upgrade to CartFlows Pro or to connect your account. Picking companion products by hand keeps working either way.

How Auto Suggest Works

Auto Suggest looks at what your customers have bought together with the product you are editing, and offers the products that come up most often. When a product is too new or too quiet to have that history, it falls back to popular and related products from your catalogue instead.

  • Nothing is added to your product page automatically. You accept the suggestions you want.
  • Products already in your companion list are never suggested again.
  • Suggestions are kept for up to 24 hours, so opening the tab again shows the same list until you ask for a fresh one.

How to Generate Suggestions

Step 1. Go to Products, open the product you want companions for, and scroll to the Product data box.

Step 2. Click the Frequently Bought Together tab and turn on Enable Widget.

Step 3. Click the Auto Suggest tab, then click Generate suggestions. Analysing your catalogue takes a few seconds.

Step 4. Review the list. Each row shows the product image and name, a badge explaining why it was suggested, and the price.

Step 5. Click Accept on the ones you want. Each accepted product moves straight into the Products tab, and the count on that tab goes up as you go.

Step 6. Click Reject on anything that does not fit. That only removes it from this list, it does not add it anywhere.

Step 7. Click Update to save the product. Accepted suggestions are not live on your store until you do.

Reading the Badges

The badge next to each product name tells you why Auto Suggest picked it:

  • A match percentage means the suggestion comes from real buying patterns in your store. The higher the number, the more often the two products are bought together.
  • Popular in your store means there was not enough buying history for this product yet, so Auto Suggest offered a strong seller instead.
  • New means the product was added to your catalogue recently.

A new store, or a product nobody has bought yet, will mostly return Popular in your store badges. That is expected, and the suggestions get sharper as orders come in.

Getting a Fresh Set

Regenerate all, at the top right of the list, fetches a new batch. It leaves out both the products you have already accepted and the ones currently on screen, so you get genuinely different options rather than the same list again.

Use it when the first batch does not suit the product, or when you have added new stock and want Auto Suggest to take another look.
